Overview
- The pursuit began around 2:45 p.m. Friday when Lt. Josh Akin spotted a red SUV near Brooks Woolsey Road and Antioch Road in Fayette County.
- The driver refused to stop as speeds exceeded 115 mph and the SUV crossed into oncoming traffic before overturning near the Highway 85 Connector.
- Deputies removed the driver, 17-year-old Taylor Simpson, from the vehicle with minor injuries and took him into custody.
- Simpson faces multiple felony and traffic charges, including fleeing, reckless driving, driving without a license, and giving a false name to an officer.
- The SUV had been reported stolen out of Newnan on Jan. 21, and Simpson remains in the Fayette County Jail without bond.
