Georgia Deputies Kill Armed Stepfather After Slayings of Two Teens

The state is investigating the deputies’ use of force with findings to be sent to the local district attorney.

Deputies responded around 6:50 p.m. Monday in Midland after Kelly Grigsby reported threats and fled to a neighbor’s home with a 5-year-old.
Eric Grigsby, 50, emerged from the home carrying two handguns as deputies arrived, according to law enforcement.
Officers say they ordered him to drop the weapons, he pointed and fired at them, and deputies returned fire, killing him at the scene.
A 16-year-old stepson was found dead and a 14-year-old died after emergency care attempts, and no deputies were injured.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation opened a case that will go to the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit district attorney, marking its 72nd officer-involved shooting probe this year.
