Overview

• Yvette Thurston, 54, was arrested on Aug. 11 and charged with one count of first-degree aggravated battery and three counts of first-degree child abuse.
• The one-year-old sustained facial bruising, swelling and cuts that required hospital treatment and whose father, US Marine Cory Weeks, posted graphic photos online.
• Decatur County investigators analyzed daycare surveillance footage that allegedly captured Thurston assaulting the child.
• Little Blessings Child Care, operated by the Bainbridge Church of God, terminated Thurston following the incident.
• The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning has opened an administrative review and police are continuing their criminal investigation.
