Georgetown Extends Winning Streak with Dominant Victory Over UMBC

Thomas Sorber, named Big East Freshman of the Week for the third time this season, scored 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds in Georgetown's 86-62 win over UMBC.
The Hoyas have now won five consecutive games, concluding an eight-game homestand to open the season with a 7-1 record under head coach Ed Cooley.
Georgetown dominated inside, scoring 52 points in the paint and forcing 21 UMBC turnovers while holding the Retrievers to 22.2% shooting from three-point range.
Micah Peavy, a fifth-year graduate student, has emerged as a leader for the young Hoyas roster, contributing seven points, five rebounds, five assists, and four steals in the game.
UMBC, now 5-5, struggled offensively after a strong start, missing nine consecutive three-pointers and failing to recover against Georgetown's defensive pressure.
