  • Tri-Union Seafoods and the FDA announced on Jan. 19, 2026, an expanded recall after a third-party distributor inadvertently released cans tied to a February 2025 recall.
  • The affected products are Genova Yellowfin Tuna in Olive Oil 5 oz 4-pack (UPC 4800073265; can codes S84N D2L or S84N D3L; Best if Used By 01/21/2028 or 01/24/2028) and Genova Yellowfin Tuna in Extra Virgin Olive Oil with Sea Salt 5 oz (UPC 4800013275; can code S88N D1M; Best if Used By 01/17/2028).
  • Distribution in this update includes Meijer stores in IL, IN, KY, MI, OH, and WI; Giant Foods in MD and VA; and Safeway, Albertsons, Vons, and Pavilions in CA.
  • Consumers are urged not to eat the tuna even if it appears normal, to return or discard it, and to contact Tri-Union for a retrieval kit or refund at 833-374-0171 or support@thaiunionhelp.zendesk.com.
  • No illnesses have been reported in connection with these shipments; anyone feeling unwell after consumption should seek immediate medical attention, as contaminated food may not look or smell spoiled.
