Genesis Launches Magma Performance Line With GV60 EV as GT Concept Signals GT3 Bid
The Korean marque is using Magma to connect showroom models to a GT3 homologation push alongside a Le Mans hypercar.
Overview
- At Circuit Paul Ricard, Genesis unveiled the production GV60 Magma and the Magma GT Concept as the opening act for its new performance sub-brand.
- The GV60 Magma features dual-motor all-wheel drive with up to 478 kW and 790 Nm, 0–100 km/h in about 3.4 seconds and a 264 km/h top speed, plus Magma Mode, a virtual gear-shift system, drift mode and upgraded suspension and brakes.
- Design chief Luc Donckerwolke said the GT concept is intended as a halo developed toward a road car and as the basis for customer GT3 racing, which would require a homologated production model.
- Donckerwolke detailed a 3.2‑liter twin‑turbo V8 for the GMR‑001 Le Mans Hypercar and said the roadgoing GT would add hybrid assistance.
- Executives outlined a roadmap from a base sports car to a GT3 racer and flagged a family of derivatives—S, GTS, roadster, lightweight and Clubsport—to make the program commercially viable.
