Overview

  • The recall covers 2019–2024 Chevrolet Silverado Medium Duty 4500HD, 5500HD and 6500HD models with a brake pressure sensor assembly that can leak fluid into the switch and trigger an electrical short
  • GM traced the defect to an unauthorized chemical used by a supplier that degrades a rubber component in the brake assembly over time
  • The company has logged 160 field reports related to the issue, including one engine‐compartment fire, but no injuries or accidents have been linked to the defect
  • GM estimates about 1% of the recalled vehicles, roughly 625 trucks, will actually exhibit the faulty brake sensor
  • Dealers will install a new wire harness at no cost and owners will receive initial recall letters starting July 28 followed by a second notice when repairs are ready
