General Motors Delays Shift for Lions' NFC Championship Game

The Detroit-based company is adjusting its schedule to allow its employees to watch the Lions' first NFC title game since 1992.

  • The General Motors plant in Flint, Michigan, announced to its workers that it will delay production for an hour on Sunday, in order for employees to watch the playoff game.
  • The third shift typically begins at 10 p.m. on Sundays with around 1,500 employees.
  • The Flint plant is the only one in Michigan to run a third shift on Sunday.
  • The Lions last played for the NFL championship in 1957, well before the Super Bowl era.
