Overview
- On July 23, Agrupación VI, Escuadrones 15 “Bajo Paraguay” and 16 “Clorinda,” and the Sección Antidrogas “Clorinda” dismantled 25 improvised wooden bridges along the Pilcomayo river frontier.
- The pallet‐made crossings were used to sneak migrants and contraband across the Argentina–Paraguay border.
- At the same time, gendarmes intercepted a Paraguayan‐flagged truck at kilometer 1142 of National Route 11, uncovering 1,499.3 kg of marijuana and detaining the driver.
- The action is part of a recurring “desarme” campaign aimed at disrupting transnational smuggling networks and illegal migration channels.
- Authorities say these intensified operations will continue to reinforce state presence and curb cross‐border crime in Formosa’s remote northern region.
