Gen Z Treat Work Trips as Lifestyle Upgrades, Hotels.com Survey Finds

Hotels.com is leveraging the poll to debut Save Your Way, which offers a choice between an instant member discount or banking it as rewards.

  • A OnePoll survey of 2,000 business travelers reports that more than eight in ten Gen Z workers view business trips as a chance to upgrade their lifestyle.
  • Twenty-six percent say they often seek out cool entertainment and content creation opportunities on work trips, and 36% post on social media more frequently, sharing roughly three photos per day.
  • Nearly three-quarters of Gen Z respondents pay out of pocket to upgrade hotels or meals, compared with 27% of older colleagues, while about a third say they expense dinners.
  • More than a third of younger professionals are more likely to expense taxis or private hire vehicles rather than use public transport during work travel.
  • The company-commissioned, self-reported findings coincide with the launch of Hotels.com’s Save Your Way feature, and New York ranked as the top business travel destination across age groups.
