Overview

  • Gen. Adrian Spain formally succeeded Gen. Kenneth Wilsbach on Aug. 11 at Joint Base Langley-Eustis and assumed leadership of ACC’s pivot toward agile combat employment.
  • He emphasized warfighting effectiveness over arbitrary timelines, focusing on aircraft and aircrew readiness, electromagnetic-spectrum dominance and support for Airmen and their families.
  • Air Combat Command’s roughly 100,000 Airmen, 1,000 aircraft and two dozen wings have been tasked with ramping up exercises such as Red Flag, Bamboo Eagle and department-level drills in the Pacific.
  • Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David Allvin said China’s military modernization and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine require a doubledown on readiness and deterrence.
  • ACC will begin fielding Collaborative Combat Aircraft drones and the future sixth-generation F-47 fighter as part of near-term modernization initiatives.
