Gears of War: Reloaded Launches on PS5, Xbox, and PC as Early PC Players Report Performance Problems

The series’ first PlayStation release signals Xbox’s broader access push with a modern remaster featuring 4K targets, cross-play, and bundled content.

Overview

  • Released on August 26, the remaster is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Xbox Cloud Gaming (beta), with day-one access on Game Pass.
  • Cross-play and cross-progression are supported across platforms, with optional Microsoft account linking for shared saves and online progress.
  • Technical targets include native 4K with 60 FPS in the campaign, up to 120 FPS in multiplayer, HDR and spatial audio, and PS5 Pro upscaling via PSSR and AMD FSR.
  • The package rolls in prior Ultimate Edition content such as an extra campaign act, 19 remastered multiplayer maps, classic characters and cosmetics, with no paid DLC or in-game store.
  • Within 24 hours of launch, Steam user reviews turned mixed as PC players cited crashes, stability issues and the absence of split-screen on PC; Microsoft says it is investigating.
