Developers squeezed the toggleable radar into the September launch build without a mini-map to enhance in-game navigation.

Overview

  • The optional combat radar will be off by default at launch following feedback gathered during preview tours in the US, Europe, and Asia.
  • Several Gearbox developers worked beyond their regular schedules to implement the radar just before QA testing.
  • Borderlands 4 will rely on a compass and the EchoBot AI drone for navigation in lieu of a traditional mini-map.
  • The standard edition will carry a $70 MSRP when the game releases on September 12, 2025, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
  • Creative director Graeme Timmins led a dedicated UI team in adding the feature last week, underscoring Gearbox’s commitment to player-driven development.
