Overview

  • Gas ranges will move from Mexico to LaFayette, Georgia, and six refrigerator models will shift from China to the Decatur, Alabama, plant.
  • Camden, South Carolina, will double its output and workforce by adding electric and hybrid heat pump water heater production previously based overseas.
  • Kentucky’s Appliance Park will begin producing combo washer/dryers and front-load washers under the first phase of the investment.
  • GE Appliances expects the $3 billion program to create over 1,000 jobs and modernize 11 U.S. manufacturing plants with automation and workforce training over five years.
  • CEO Kevin Nolan says the initiative is driven by lean manufacturing and customer proximity even as the Haier subsidiary maintains some overseas production contracts.
