GB News Fined £100,000 by Ofcom for Impartiality Breach

The fine follows a program featuring Rishi Sunak that provided an uncontested platform for government promotion ahead of the UK General Election.

Ofcom imposed the fine after determining the program violated impartiality rules by not presenting a wide range of significant viewpoints.
The broadcast, titled 'People’s Forum: The Prime Minister,' aired on February 12 and received 547 complaints regarding its content.
GB News is contesting the decision through a judicial review, arguing the sanctions are an attack on free speech and journalism.
The channel has been directed to broadcast a statement of Ofcom's findings, but enforcement will wait until legal proceedings conclude.
This marks the twelfth time GB News has breached Ofcom's rules since its launch in 2021, with several investigations still ongoing.
