• McKenzie says he will resign on Tuesday and pull the Patriotic Alliance from the GNU and ANC-led coalitions if his demand is not met, with no formal response yet from the ANC, Mayor Dada Morero or the EFF.
• Kunene was removed earlier this year following scrutiny over his presence at the home of murder suspect Katiso Molefe, and a law-firm probe subsequently cleared him.
• McKenzie alleges the ANC and EFF have teamed up to sideline the PA by blocking Kunene’s return and rejecting the appointment of former DA MP Liam Jacobs.
• Citing recent water outages in Westbury, Newclare and Corrie, McKenzie calls the city’s failure to deliver tankers the final straw and says he arranged private deliveries for residents.
