Overview
- Great Smoky Mountains National Park announced Tuesday that the bypass is back open following several days of work.
- Crews removed more than 140 truckloads of debris and cleared ditches, drainages and a culvert to restore safe travel.
- The landslide occurred around noon Saturday near the park entrance sign, covering about 150 feet of roadway with 1 to 4 feet of material.
- Park officials publicly thanked the City of Gatlinburg, Sevier County and the City of Sevierville for supporting the response.
- During the closure, residents and delivery drivers reported heavier traffic on the Parkway, and the national park remained open.
