• Registration, postponed from August 25, begins on August 28 at gate2026.iitg.ac.in.
• Applications close on September 28 without a late fee, with an extended window available until October 9.
• The fee per paper is Rs 2,000 for most candidates and Rs 1,000 for female/SC/ST/PwD candidates, with an additional Rs 500 during the extended period.
• GATE 2026 will be conducted on February 7, 8, 14, and 15 in two daily sessions (9:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m.), with results due March 19, 2026.
• Exam updates include a new Energy Science section (XE‑I) under Engineering Sciences, updated approved two‑paper combinations to be listed on the official site, and eligibility extending to third‑year or higher undergraduates and qualifying foreign degree holders.
