• It is his first NTA TV presenter nomination since 2017, and he will compete with 23-year reigning winners Ant & Dec, plus Alison Hammond, Claudia Winkleman and Stacey Solomon.
• The National Television Awards take place at The O2 in London on 10 September, hosted by Joel Dommett and broadcast live on ITV1 and ITVX, with public voting now open.
• Lineker left Match of the Day in May after 26 years following a row over a social media post about Zionism that included a rat image, historically associated with antisemitic insult, and he issued an unreserved apology.
• The BBC confirmed his early departure and said he would not front coverage of the 2026 World Cup or the next FA Cup season, having been its highest-paid on-air presenter.
• Earlier this month ITV announced he will host new game show The Box, set to film in the UK later this year for a 2026 broadcast.
