Overview
- Lineker was named Best TV Presenter at the 30th National Television Awards at London’s O2 on 10 September, broadcast live on ITV and ITVX.
- The Presenter category was decided entirely by public vote, with Lineker finishing ahead of Ant & Dec, Claudia Winkleman, Alison Hammond and Stacey Solomon.
- Accepting the award, Lineker said the result “demonstrates that perhaps it’s ok, sometimes, for us to use our platform to speak up on behalf of those who have no voice.”
- His win follows his May 2025 exit from the BBC and Match of the Day after controversy over a social-media post that included a rat image.
- Other notable winners included Adolescence (New Drama) and its star Owen Cooper (Drama Performance), Clarkson’s Farm (Factual Entertainment), Michael McIntyre’s Big Show (Bruce Forsyth Award) and Steve McFadden (Serial Drama Performance).
