Overview
- Garmin unveiled AXIS on Wednesday, July 8, presenting three display formats—11.6-inch landscape, 8-inch portrait and 8-inch landscape—that can serve as a primary flight display, multifunction display or engine indication system.
- The 11.6-inch AXIS has received FAA and EASA Technical Standard Order authorization, Garmin says the FAA STC will cover hundreds of Part 23 piston singles and twins and initial certified units are scheduled to be available in July 2026.
- AXIS embeds IFR GPS, NAV/COMM radio and an audio panel into one unit, with the 11.6-inch COMM offering 10 watts transmit power, 8.33 kHz channel spacing and standby monitoring to reduce the number of separate avionics boxes.
- The system includes a dedicated emergency bezel button that triggers Smart Glide and other safety modes, plus 3D SafeTaxi, Runway Occupancy Awareness, Enhanced Synthetic Vision, HDMI camera input, Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth and ForeFlight/Garmin Pilot connectivity.
- CubCrafters will offer AXIS as a factory option and factory-authorized retrofit starting through its Yakima service center, and Garmin plans broader 8-inch models, engine indication/autopilot compatibility and expanded STC coverage in early 2027.
