Overview
- Garmin said on Oct. 14, 2026 that more than 2,500 aircraft are now equipped with Autoland, a certified system first approved in May 2020.
- Autoland is available on over 15 certified models and in 2026 gained approvals for the HondaJet Elite II, Embraer Phenom 300EV, Pilatus PC‑12 PRO and Epic E1000 AX, marking its first installations on twin‑engine business jets.
- Nearly 250 of the Autoland installations were retrofits done after delivery, including a full retrofit program for eligible Beechcraft King Air models.
- The system can be triggered by a passenger pressing a dedicated button or by automatic detection of no pilot interaction, after which it plans a route that avoids terrain and bad weather, communicates with air traffic control and conducts an autonomous approach and landing.
- Garmin says it expects further certifications in 2027 for several Textron/Cessna Citation Gen3 models and the Beechcraft Denali pending regulatory approval, a step that could widen access to autonomous emergency landing capability and influence fleet upgrades and passenger safety expectations.
