Gardaí Unable to Locate Enoch Burke After Fourth High Court Jailing Order

A High Court judge asked the Attorney General to pursue criminal contempt over courtroom disruptions by Burke's relatives.

Overview

  • Mr Justice Brian Cregan on Tuesday ordered Burke’s committal for repeatedly breaching an injunction to stay off Wilson’s Hospital School.
  • Gardaí visited the Burke family home in Castlebar twice on Wednesday seeking to arrest him but left without him, and he has not returned to the school since leaving on Tuesday morning.
  • The judge described Burke as an intruder who was “stalking the school, its teachers and pupils” and as a potential danger to staff and students.
  • Burke has already served 513 days in prison for contempt and accrued about €225,000 in fines, with roughly €40,000 recovered through salary garnishment.
  • The judge referred possible criminal contempt cases to the Attorney General involving Burke, his mother Martina, and siblings Ammi and Isaac for disruptive conduct in court.
