Gardaí Seize €2.1m in Drugs in Dublin and Wicklow Under Operation Tara

Five suspects remain in custody under anti-drugs detention laws pending further inquiries.

Overview

  • Searches at residential addresses in Dublin and Wicklow were led by the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau with support from the Ballymun and Balbriggan drug units.
  • Officers recovered 98 kilograms of cannabis and two kilograms of cocaine with an estimated combined street value of €2.1 million.
  • One male suspect in his 40s is detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.
  • Three female suspects and one male suspect are detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
  • The operation forms part of Operation Tara, which targets the disruption and prosecution of drug trafficking networks at international, national and local levels.
