Overview
- An adult man and a young girl were found dead at a home in the Heathfield estate, Finglas, on Saturday evening, with the scene preserved and the State Pathologist requested.
- Gardaí say there was no apparent sign of forced entry at the Finglas address and they are keeping an open mind, as media reports of a suspected murder–suicide remain unconfirmed pending post-mortems.
- Separately on Monday morning, three adults from one family were discovered dead at a rural property in Drumgowna/Tallanstown, Co Louth, and a man in his 30s was arrested under Section 4.
- Investigators are not seeking additional suspects in the Louth case, initial indications point to violent deaths, and the Garda National Technical Bureau is conducting forensic examinations.
- The Louth victims’ remains were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for post-mortems on Tuesday, with an incident room opened at Ardee Garda Station and family liaison officers appointed.
