Overview

• The collision occurred on Williamstown Road in Waterford city at about 1pm on Saturday when a motorcycle collided with a car, killing the rider, a man in his 40s.
• The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been taken to University Hospital Waterford for a post-mortem examination.
• The car’s driver, a woman in her 30s, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at University Hospital Waterford.
• Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have closed the road with local diversions in place to conduct a detailed examination of the crash site.
• Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses or owners of dash-cam or CCTV footage from around 12:50pm to 1:30pm on Saturday to contact Waterford Garda Station or the confidential line as investigations continue.
