Overview

  • The average transaction price difference between electric vehicles and combustion cars in Germany has shrunk to just below €3,000 as of July 2025.
  • Both powertrains now offer discounts of about 17 percent, erasing the earlier rebate disadvantage for EVs.
  • Volkswagen Group leads with 61,600 electric registrations and a 21 percent market share, rising to almost 46 percent when including its brands Skoda, Audi, Seat and Porsche.
  • Tesla’s new registrations have fallen to 10,000 units, dropping it to ninth place overall and 14th in July.
  • Since January, tighter EU CO₂ regulations have forced automakers to boost EV sales to avoid fleet penalties, contributing to a surge in electric registrations.
