Gameskraft Files FIR Alleging Ex-CFO Siphoned Rs 270 Crore After Email Confession

Police say the case will move to the CID, with a lookout circular likely.

Overview

  • Marathahalli police registered the FIR on September 9, booking former Group CFO Ramesh Prabhu under multiple BNS sections for criminal breach of trust, cheating, forgery and falsification of records.
  • In a March 5 email, Prabhu admitted diverting company funds into personal equity and F&O trades over several years and estimated losses exceeding Rs 250 crore, while claiming no other employees were involved.
  • A company review found unauthorised transactions of Rs 231.39 crore from FY20–FY25, including Rs 211.53 crore misclassified as investments, leading to a total FY25 write-off of Rs 270.43 crore.
  • The FIR alleges he used a company RBL Bank account he controlled to move money to his personal account, then concealed the transfers with altered bank statements and fake mutual fund documents.
  • Prabhu has been untraceable since early March as Gameskraft hired forensic auditors and tightened internal controls, and police prepare to transfer the probe to the CID with a potential lookout notice.
