Gamescom Opening Night Live Launches August 19 With Major Game Reveals

The two-hour global showcase will set the tone for Europe’s biggest gaming event, featuring major reveals, playable demos as well as Xbox hardware updates.

Overview

  • Geoff Keighley will host a two-hour, cross-platform Opening Night Live on 19 August in Koelnmesse Hall 1, streamed globally from 7 pm UK time.
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will receive its full reveal during the show alongside first looks at Resident Evil Requiem, Ghost of Yotei and World of Warcraft: Midnight.
  • Hollow Knight: Silksong will be playable at both Nintendo and Xbox booths with a developer-stated target to launch before the end of 2025.
  • Xbox will complement the presentation with multi-day livestreams on 20–21 August and a hands-on showcase of the ROG Xbox Ally handheld, which is expected to receive release and pricing details.
  • Gamescom 2025 will occupy a record 233,000 sqm of exhibition space across more than 1,500 exhibitors as organisers expand Hall 1 to seat around 5,000 for Opening Night Live.
