Gallup Poll Shows Strong Public Confidence in Trump’s Immigration and Security Plans

A majority of Americans believe President-elect Trump will control illegal immigration and keep the U.S. safe from terrorism in his second term.

A Gallup poll conducted in December 2024 found that 68% of Americans believe Trump will successfully control illegal immigration, marking a 9-point increase from 2016.
60% of respondents expressed confidence in Trump’s ability to keep the U.S. safe from terrorism, following recent attacks and growing national security concerns.
Trump has promised to implement the largest deportation operation in U.S. history, enhance border security, and resume construction of the southern border wall.
The poll also found that 55% of Americans believe Trump will keep the U.S. out of war, with optimism tied to his pledges to address conflicts like the Russia-Ukraine war and tensions in the Middle East.
While optimism is high for immigration and security policies, fewer Americans expect Trump to succeed in healing political divisions, improving healthcare, or addressing environmental issues.
