Galicia’s MoBT Bus Ticketing App to Expand Pilot to 26 Municipalities in September

Overview

  • The pilot phase launched in July on Android and iOS across the Santiago metropolitan area, the Lugo–A Coruña Conecta route and Deza lines while coexisting with the current TMG platform.
  • In September the experimental pilot will add 26 councils across Pontevedra, O Salnés and O Morrazo, including Bueu, Cangas, O Grove, Marín, Meaño, Meis, Moaña, Poio, Pontevedra, Sanxenxo, Vigo and Vilaboa.
  • MoBT integrates fare subsidies for under-21 users through the Xente Nova scheme and the +65 senior tariff, granting registered young passengers 60 free trips per month and automating bonuses for seniors.
  • The app removes the need for physical cards and ATM top-ups by storing virtual wallets in the cloud with online recharge via credit or debit card and upcoming web-based top-up options.
  • Built-in journey planning recommends optimal routes, transfers and walking times, and QR code validation on buses streamlines boarding across Galicia’s autonomous network.
