Galicia’s 2026 Budget Accelerates Housing: Big Allocations for Xuxán and Pontevedra With New Marín Land Plan

The package aims to double the public housing stock by 2028 through targeted funding, land activation and conversions of vacant premises.

  • Xunta officials detailed nearly €14.8 million in 2026 funding for public and protected housing in A Coruña, led by ongoing projects in Xuxán and additional builds in Os Rosais, Rei Abdullah and Pedro Fernández.
  • The government is advancing the Monte Mero Project of Autonomous Interest, budgeting €1.34 million in 2026 to draft the plan that foresees 4,310 homes, 80% of them protected.
  • For the Pontevedra urban area, the Xunta set a short‑term goal of 2,400 new homes with 80% protected, backed by more than €211 million earmarked for the province, including €28 million for the city.
  • In Pontevedra’s Valdecorvos, 236 protected homes are in the final stretch, with the first 74 due for handover in the first half of 2026 and additional units planned in Tafisa and As Devesas.
  • The Consello approved developing a new ambit in Marín to enable land for 400 flats with approvals targeted for late 2026 and urbanization tenders in 2027, alongside a €5 million multi‑year program to buy vacant ground‑floor shops for conversion to public housing.
