Overview
- The working group and the rectors of USC, UVigo and UDC validated a pact to share upper-year medical teaching across Santiago, Vigo and A Coruña.
- The rollout is phased toward full deployment in 2028/29, with outlets differing on the start year for initial measures between 2025/26 and 2026/27.
- The model covers years 4–6, with Santiago handling roughly half of instruction and new teaching units in A Coruña (CHUAC) and Vigo (Álvaro Cunqueiro) staffed by faculty from all three universities.
- The agreement must be ratified by the Consello de Docencia Clínica de Galicia before going to each university’s governing council for approval.
- UVigo and UDC have paused formal bids for their own Medicine degrees during the pact, while political tensions persist with public criticism from A Coruña’s mayor and a defense of the deal by Galicia’s president.
