Galician Municipalities Launch Multi-Million-Euro Urban Renewal Projects

Municipal budget shifts backed by provincial grants have prompted Galicia’s towns to upgrade streets, improve public spaces, convert buildings into social housing.

Overview

  • Pontevedra will invest €5.5 million in renovating 44 central and neighborhood streets and 20 parish nuclei, including full overhauls of O Campiño and O Vao industrial park roads.
  • Ordes has put three projects worth €354,000 out to tender, with €73,512 earmarked for naturalizing the Rego da Fraga corridor and €176,783 for converting a Mesón do Vento social center into housing.
  • The Vilamaior parish road from O Castro to the Mesía border will receive a €104,097 upgrade under the Camiña Rural 2025-2026 plan, resurfacing over a 1 km stretch.
  • Tui’s nearly €1 million Calle Coruña humanization will create a level pedestrian platform, update drainage networks, repave surfaces, install LED lighting and add vertical gardens and heritage features.
  • Phased timelines tie work in Tui to the completion of the Corredoira promenade by July and Plaza de la Inmaculada by September, with Calle Coruña tenders expected in Q4 2025.
