Overview
- Authorities will deliver about 24,000 kg by helicopter using helimulching, with the rest distributed on the ground.
- Deliveries comprise 31,000 kg of straw and 3,000 kg of cereals, including 200 kg bales fitted with salt stones.
- Feed will be placed in native, humid refuges that survived the fires, such as ravines and north-facing slopes where animals have concentrated.
- Initial drops are focused on Beade, Carballeda de Valdeorras, Chandrexa de Queixa, A Mezquita, Oímbra, Avión, Maceda and Vilardevós, with scope for expansion.
- The wildlife effort complements emergency farm support that has already provided more than 93 tonnes of livestock feed and activated aid covering up to €200,000 per person.
