Galicia Sets Employment Record in 2025 With Most New Jobs Filled by Foreign Workers

Economists call immigration an economic necessity to keep Galicia growing.

  • Foreign-registered workers in Galicia rose by 9,983 to about 78,000, marking a 14.7% annual increase.
  • The latest IGE update shows a modest mid-2025 population rise to 2,720,738 residents, roughly 6,000 more than at the start of the year.
  • Construction added the most foreign contributors in 2025 (+1,670), followed by hospitality (+1,480), commerce and vehicle repair (+1,422), manufacturing (+1,204) and transport/storage (+1,177).
