Overview

  • President Alfonso Rueda denounced the central government’s migrant minor allocation as an “imposition” that could collapse Galicia’s reception network without clear planning and resources.
  • Under Madrid’s formula of 32 minors per 100,000 inhabitants, Galicia would see its unaccompanied child population rise from about 300 to nearly 900.
  • Social Affairs Minister Fabiola García confirmed that the central government has not earmarked additional funding for the incoming unaccompanied minors.
  • BNG leader Ana Pontón criticized Rueda’s stance as demonstrating “deshumanidad” and accused the PP of adopting racist rhetoric.
  • Pedro Blanco, the government’s delegate in Galicia, urged the region to show solidarity and noted that a sectoral conference on quotas and financing has not yet convened.
