Overview
- Authorities reported the Chandrexa de Queixa–Vilariño de Conso fire out at 10:20, Oímbra–Xinzo at 13:20 and Larouco at 13:23 on August 31.
- The three megafires together affected more than 78,500 hectares, led by Larouco with 31,778 hectares, Oímbra–Xinzo with 23,763 and Chandrexa–Vilariño with 23,036.
- Since July 1, Galicia has recorded 65 fires over 20 hectares, with the total burned area updated to nearly 111,000 hectares.
- Extinction efforts amassed substantial resources, including 54 technicians, 248 agents, 328 brigades, 256 engines, 12 bulldozers, 6 support units, 15 helicopters, 15 planes and UME deployments.
- Officials say area estimates remain provisional and focus on incidents over 20 hectares, and three firefighters were reported seriously burned during suppression work.
