Galicia Activates Medicine Degree Decentralization as Oversight Panel Forms Working Groups

A new monitoring commission launches the four-year rollout via legal and economic teams to regulate teaching units, quantify resources.

  • The Xunta-ratified pact begins implementation with a commission constituted in Santiago to steer decentralization of years 4–6 by the 2028/2029 academic year.
  • Two working groups will draft the regulation for new teaching units in the A Coruña and Vigo university hospitals and estimate staffing and material needs.
  • A student representative has been authorized to join the commission, which includes the Education and Health conselleiros, the three rectors, SERGAS leadership and hospital delegates.
