Gage Park Man Charged in Double Homicide and Bar Stabbings

Robert Romo, 57, remains in custody after being charged with killing his brother and his brother’s partner before attacking patrons at a nearby bar.

  • Police found the bodies of Richard M. Romo, 63, and Rita Chavez, 64, at an apartment on South Kedzie Avenue; both died from gunshot wounds and stabbing injuries.
  • Shortly after the killings, Romo allegedly attempted to stab a bouncer and another patron at the Just One More sports bar before stabbing a woman in the restroom.
  • The woman who was stabbed at the bar is recovering in good condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to officials.
