Gaetz Releases Film Documenting McCarthy's Ouster as McCarthy Criticizes His Detractors

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) released a 13-minute short film titled 'Gaveled Out: Return of The People's House', documenting his journey to oust former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) from the chamber's top job.
The film recounts the 15-ballot battle McCarthy fought to win the speaker's gavel in January, and the subsequent vote in October where eight House Republicans joined Democrats to fire McCarthy.
In the weeks following McCarthy's ouster, the House struggled to elect a new leader, with House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) both failing to secure enough support.
On Oct. 25, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) won the speaker's gavel without any opposing Republican votes. His first major challenge is to avoid a government shutdown, one of the reasons GOP members ousted McCarthy.
