G7 to Gather in Kananaskis for June 15–17 Mountain Summit

The secluded lodge’s remote terrain offers a fortified backdrop for leaders to address global economic challenges.

Overview

  • The summit will be hosted at the Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge, marking Kananaskis’s second time holding a G7/G8 meeting since 2002.
  • Prime Minister Mark Carney will chair the talks, joined by President Donald Trump, President Emmanuel Macron, Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
  • Spanning over 4,000 square kilometres, Kananaskis Country comprises connected provincial parks and reserves with hiking trails, the Nakiska ski hill and the Kananaskis Nordic Spa.
  • A mandatory Conservation Pass established in 2021 will help fund wildlife conservation, public safety and recreational services during and after the summit.
  • Organizers have blocked key access roads and reinforced security perimeters within the native bear territory to ensure an isolated and secure meeting environment.
