• FX has given a series order to The Shards, officially moving Ryan Murphy’s adaptation into production.
• Igby Rigney will portray a teenage Bret Easton Ellis, while Homer James Jigme Gere and Graham Campbell join Kaia Gerber as lead cast members.
• Max Winkler is set to direct and executive produce the show for 20th Television in association with Ryan Murphy Productions.
• Set in 1981 Los Angeles, the story follows a 17-year-old Ellis at Buckley Prep as he encounters the enigmatic Robert Mallory and a killer known as The Trawler.
• The series revives an earlier HBO attempt and builds on Ellis’s 2023 print release and initial serialized audiobook of the dark coming-of-age novel.
