Overview

• FX has officially greenlit a television series adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’s novel The Shards for its 2025 slate.
• The project is produced by 20th Television in partnership with Ryan Murphy Productions under executive producers Ryan Murphy, Bret Easton Ellis, Max Winkler, Nick Hall, Kathleen McCaffrey and Brian Young.
• Kaia Gerber leads the cast alongside Igby Rigney as the young Ellis, Homer Gere as mysterious newcomer Robert Mallory and Graham Campbell as Thom Wright.
• Max Winkler is attached to direct and executive produce the series set in 1981 Los Angeles during Ellis’s senior year at Buckley Prep.
• Although FX has granted a series order and confirmed its principal cast and director, the production has yet to secure a credited writer.
