Overview
- PRO announced on Friday that it is withdrawing from the current formation phase in Tiel because it does not want to appear to cooperate with Forum voor Democratie, while still supporting the jointly negotiated Programma van Tiel.
- Forum voor Democratie is not proposed as a college (executive) party but has given written consent to the program and to the appointment of the candidate wethouders, making its three seats potentially decisive for a 15-of-27 majority.
- Formateurs returned their assignment after earlier talks, and CDA, D66, PRO and FvD chose to press the program forward without the largest party (PvdB) and the VVD, creating the contested majority.
- The beoogde collegepartijen asked PvdB and the VVD to nominate an alderman but both parties have so far been reluctant to replace their current wethouders, leaving the outcome dependent on the council vote.
- A council session scheduled for 31 August will decide whether the program is adopted and the proposed aldermen are appointed, which will reveal how practical cooperation with FvD will be organised and what that means for local governance and policy delivery.
