Fuvest 2027 First Phase Held Nationwide With New 80‑Question Format

The exam’s more interdisciplinary structure and Fortaleza’s debut as a test site signal efforts to broaden access ahead of the December second phase.

Overview

  • Fuvest administered the first phase on Sunday, Nov. 1, giving 106,165 registered candidates five hours to answer 80 multiple‑choice questions under the new, more interdisciplinary format.
  • Of those registered, 93,828 compete for 8,147 USP vacancies while 12,337 are treineiros who take the test for practice and do not compete for places.
  • Vacancies are split into 4,888 open‑competition seats, 2,053 reserved for public‑school students, and 1,206 reserved for public‑school candidates who self‑identify as black, brown or indigenous.
  • Organizers ran the exam across dozens of cities with strict ID and item rules — transparent ballpoint pens only, no watches or electronic devices — and local measures such as adjusted gate times and added transport in some areas; Fortaleza hosted the Fuvest first phase for the first time with 1,640 candidates.
  • Fuvest will publish the list of second‑phase convocados on Nov. 23 and hold the second phase on Dec. 6–7 followed by competency tests on Dec. 8–11 while the UFPR vestibular took place the same day with 43,290 registrants and a reported 9.4% rise in applicants.
