Fuvest 2026 First Phase Administered to 111,480 Across São Paulo State

Overview

• Testing was held in more than 30 cities with local contingents including Campinas (7,374), São Carlos and Pirassununga (3,567), Vale do Paraíba (4,968) and Mogi das Cruzes (2,190).
• A total of 98,520 candidates competed alongside 12,960 treineiros who sat the test for practice.
• The in-person exam comprised 90 multiple-choice questions over five hours, with gates open from noon to 1 p.m., ID and a transparent blue or black pen required and all electronics and watches prohibited.
• New features this year include greater interdisciplinarity, a mandatory Portuguese-language reading list made up solely of women authors and a choice of two writing prompts, one argumentative and one narrative.
• USP offers 8,147 seats distributed across open competition and public-school quotas, medicine remains the most selective at about 90.7 applicants per seat and the admissions calendar runs through specific skills tests to a first call on January 23, 2026.
