Fuoco Dominates Macau Qualifying Race to Secure FIA GT World Cup Pole

A new two-lap Super Pole and a stewards’ power ruling reshaped the order, and Ferrari converted its front-row sweep into control of the weekend.

Overview

  • Antonio Fuoco led all 12 laps to win the Qualification Race, finishing 2.543 seconds ahead of Yifei Ye and clinching the Pirelli Pole Position Award for Sunday’s Main Race.
  • Alessio Picariello completed the podium for Absolute Racing’s Porsche, with Raffaele Marciello fourth for BMW and Joel Eriksson fifth in the Audi.
  • Edoardo Mortara’s best Super Pole lap was deleted for exceeding permitted power after a BoP tweak, dropping him to 10th on the grid; he finished 16th in the qualifier.
  • Debuting the one-at-a-time, two-lap Super Pole on fresh Pirellis, Fuoco set a 2:15.535—quicker than the existing Macau GT benchmark—to earn the top start for the qualifier.
  • The race ran caution-free despite first-corner incidents for Christopher Haase, Mortara, Benjamin Goethe and Sheldon van der Linde, as Laurens Vanthoor’s repaired Porsche came home 11th.
