Funeral Set for Officer Krystal Rivera Following Friendly Fire Death

The four-year veteran’s services will be held late this month, with prosecutors already moving forward on charges against the accused gunman.

Overview

  • Visitation for Officer Rivera is set for June 24 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at noon on June 25 at Living Word Christian Center in Forest Park.
  • Adrian Rucker faces charges of armed violence and illegal firearm possession after prosecutors cited body camera and security footage showing him pointing a rifle at officers.
  • Rivera was shot unintentionally in the back by a fellow officer on June 5 during a foot pursuit in the Chatham neighborhood and died less than an hour later at the University of Chicago Medical Center
