Fundació Joan Miró to Celebrate 50th Anniversary With Public Open-House Exhibition

Highlighting Miró’s global influence through archival displays, the program reopens Sert’s cypress garden for museum visitors.

Overview

  • The program opens June 15 with a public open-house for “La poesía acaba de empezar” and ushers in a year-long series of exhibitions, concerts, performances and workshops.
  • On October 10 the foundation will unveil “Miró y los Estados Unidos,” exploring the artist’s post-war ties with American avant-garde figures and later traveling to Washington’s Phillips Collection.
  • The long-closed Jardín de los Cipreses nears its first public opening as visitors gain access to Sert’s original cypress garden integrated into the museum circuit.
  • A major reorganization of the permanent collection is scheduled for March 2026 to showcase Miró’s creative processes through thematic displays.
  • In May 2026 the foundation will stage its third anniversary exhibition featuring Kapwani Kiwanga, the Canadian artist honored with the ninth Joan Miró Prize.
